The Texas Department of Transportation in Abilene will start getting roads ready on Friday morning for possible wintry weather conditions on Monday.
The first places where crews from TxDOT will be laying down the brine mixture will be on I-20 and Highway 277.
Rain is expected in our area on Monday morning, but it could change over to snow on Monday afternoon.
ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Crews from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will pre-treat roadways in the Abilene district Friday morning in anticipation of winter weather, according to a TxDOT press release.
Winter precipitation will be likely on Monday, November 12 and Tuesday, November 13, prompting crews to prepare for road conditions to worsen.
Crews across the 13-county district will treat Tier one and two roadways, which includes high-traffic corridors such as Interstate-20, U.S Highway 84 from Roscoe to the Garza County line, U.S.83/84 and others, according to the release.
During winter-precipitation, motorists are encouraged to use caution when driving over bridges and overpasses, as well as reducing speed. Drivers are also asked to stay up to date with weather conditions before starting a commute.
