Woman Killed, Man Injured in Bridgeport Shooting

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) – Dispatchers were released to a call late Wednesday night for gun shots fired in Bridgeport. 

Bridgeport police officers reported that the gun shots were fired on Maplewood Avenue at around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Two victims were struck by the gunfire and immediately transported by ambulance to St. Vincent's Medical Center. 

The victims were identified as a 41-year-old female and a 28-year-old male. The female succumbed to her injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital while the male sustained multiple gunshot wounds and is still in surgery.

News 8s Sarah Cory happened to be nearby when a Hartford police officer was struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon.

The shooting took place around 11 p.m. Wednesday in front of 848 Maplewood Ave., said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police

When officers arrived on scene they found two victims, a 41-year-old woman, and a 28-year-old male. Both were transported by ambulance to St. Vincents Medical Center, Harris said.

The woman died from her injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. The man received multiple gunshot wounds and is currently in surgery, Harris added.
