BRIDGEPORT-A city man apparently committed suicide shortly after he shot his ex-girlfriend as she sat in a parked car on Gilman Street Sunday.
The former boyfriend Jovan Boyd, 28, of Pacific Street, was found dead in his basement of an apparent gunshot wound this morning.
Police had used information from the victim to track Boyd to his home. After a foot chase he locked himself inside and said he was armed and not surrendering.
The site was secured, the department’s Emergency Services unit dispatched and a negotiator was in contact with Boyd, Capt. Brian Fitzgerald said. However no telephone calls were answered by Boyd after 3:15 a.m. Attempts to communicate with him were unsuccessful.
Police contacted Stamford police who brought specialized equipment to the scene. That’s when Boyd’s body was found.
The victim was treated for a gunshot wound in her left arm at St. Vincent’s Medical Center . A second woman and a three year old child were in the parked when Boyd allegedly fired a shot. The other two passengers were not injured.
