The new airline, California Pacific Airlines, officially kicked off the new route between the two cities on Thursday morning. This is now the 33rd airline that flies to and from McCarran.
If youre traveling in and out of Las Vegas, you have a new destination you can fly to direct: Carlsbad, California.
The new airline, California Pacific Airlines, officially kicked off the new route between the two cities on Thursday morning. It becomes the 33rd airline that flies to and from McCarran.
We are just seeing phenomenal growth at McCarran, spokesperson Christine Crews said. Last year we set a passenger record of 48.5 million, and we will exceed that this year as well.
This new airline will only fly to and from Carlsbad on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. The owner of the company, Ted Vallas, says he thinks theyll be able to compete with the larger, commercial airline companies due to their airport location and approach to flying.
Vallas says people who live in or travel to and from areas north of San Diego and south of Orange County will save a lot of time and money if they use his airline.
Two hours less travel time, he said. We are going to compete in services, number one. Safety, number two. The savings of time to get to the airports.
One person who is excited about this new flight option is Jim Verweyst. He lives about an hour or so north of San Diego and commutes to Las Vegas to see his son. He says the new route will save him time and money.
Oh heavens yes, a hundred dollars to fly over from Carlsbad, straight here, dont have to park at San Diego? Its great, Verweyst said. I hope it takes off and does good, [and] they add more flights.
