CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Two people were killed and two injured on the southwest side of Cedar Rapids early Saturday morning, authorities said.
At around 1:20 a.m., Cedar Rapids Police officers responded to a calls about a shooting in the parking lot of Iowa Smoke Shop located at 70 Kirkwood Court SW.
They arrived at the scene and discovered three victims, all of which sustained life-threatening injuries. Two of those victims have since been pronounced dead. Another, separate victim arrived at a local hospital in a private vehicle, This person also has life-threatening injuries.
Authorities currently believe that the victims of the shooting were in a vehicle in the parking lot at the store. An individual approached the vehicle and fired multiple shots.
Officers were notified that a fourth victim arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds. It’s believed that the victim was taken from the scene to the hospital by a private car.
This is an ongoing investigation, with more details released when available. Officers do not think that this shooting was related to the earlier shooting on the southeast side.
CEDAR RAPIDS — Two people are dead and two others were seriously wounded during an overnight shooting in southwest Cedar Rapids.
Three people in a vehicle were shot just before 1:20 a.m. Saturday in the Iowa Smoke Shop parking lot, 70 Kirkwood Court SW, by a person who fired “multiple shots” into the vehicle, according to a news release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
Two people were killed and a third person was taken to a hospital with what police say are life-threatening gunshot wounds.
A fourth person who police say was shot in the parking lot also arrived at the hospital with life-threatening injuries soon after the shooting. Police said they believe the fourth person was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.
Police say the shooting was “targeted” and likely unrelated to another incident that was reported at the 100 block of 29th Street Drive SE just after midnight Saturday.
