Boston Fish not closing, Cedar Rapids tradition continues – KCRG

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A longtime Cedar Rapids restaurant that was scheduled to close in just days now says it will stay open.

Boston Fish initially planned to close May 30th after 77 years because the buidling it is in at the corner of 8th Ave and 5th Street SE sold to new ownership. On Tuesday, it announced the new owners will let the business stay put.

Police say based on a preliminary investigation, it appears the victims were in a vehicle in the Iowa Smoke Shop parking lot when the shooting happened. Police say someone approached the vehicle and shot into the vehicle multiple times.

“The new owner (as of June 1st) took the time to come see us at lunch last week in action, he could see we had something special here and didnt want to even shut the doors to renovate,” Boston Fish owner Lenore Zoll said on Facebook.

The three people of interest have been identified as 21-year-old DeShawn Hull, 25-year-old Andre Richardson, and 24-year-old Alexandra Smith.

Matrell Michael Eu’gene Johnson, 18, and Royal Ceiz Abram, 18, were pronounced dead after the shooting in the parking lot of an Iowa Smoke Shop. The third victim’s name has not been released but is described as a 19-year-old female. She remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

The fourth victim who arrived at a local hospital separately is described as a 19-year-old male who also remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

A short time later police say they received notification that there was a fourth shooting victim, a 19-year-old man. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries as well.

Two others in the vehicle — a man and woman, both 19 — suffered life-threatening gunshot wounds.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) – Two people are dead and two are injured following a shooting in the Iowa Smoke Shop parking lot at 70 Kirkwood Court SW in Cedar Rapids Saturday morning.

The Police Department is asking that anyone with information on the whereabouts of these individuals contact the Cedar Rapids Police Department at 319-286-5491 or their local law enforcement agency.

Police responded to the shooting around 1:20 a.m. where they found three victims, two of which have been pronounced dead and the other sustained life-threatening injuries.

Officers were notified that a fourth victim arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds. It’s believed that the victim was taken from the scene to the hospital by a private car.

Police have identified three persons of interest in connection with Saturday’s early morning shooting in southwest Cedar Rapids that killed two and seriously wounded two others.

Police believe the victims were in a vehicle in the parking lot when someone approached the car, firing multiple shots into the vehicle.

Police said Hull is 5-foot-8 and weighs about 200 pounds. Richardson, they said, is 6-foot-1 and weighs about 185 pounds, and Smith is 5-foot-4 and weighs about 130 pounds.

According to a news release, authorities believe this was a targeted attack and not connected to a shooting earlier in the morning in the 100 block of 29th Street Drive SE.
