Man Dead, Others Critically Injured in Corona Stabbing

CORONA (CBSLA) – A stabbing in Corona left one person dead and multiple people critically injured, authorities reported Monday evening.

According to reports, the Corona Police Department was called to the 1300 block of Turquoise Drive in Corona just before 5 p.m. after a neighbor in the area reported people were fighting in the street.

One male suspect was detained by officers at the scene of the stabbing. Fountain was unable to immediately release that person’s identity or if he was arrested, but said detectives were not searching for any other suspects.

Upon arriving, police reportedly located one deceased male in the street, with other victims critically injured.

The investigation into the incident was ongoing, and investigators were expected to remain in the area until late into the evening. A section of Turquoise Drive between Zircon and Topaz streets was closed off as of 8 p.m. Monday.

The Corona neighborhood is described as a quiet area with many longtime neighbors who are wondering if the incident was related to a domestic dispute that got out of control.

Neighbor Alejandra Lizarraga said, “It’s sad, it’s heartbreaking, it’s it’s shocking, it’s surprising.”

He said police found one male victim dead and at least two other people who had been wounded. At least two ambulances were summoned to transport those injured to a nearby hospital.

CORONA, Calif. (FOX 11) – One person was killed and several others critically injured in a stabbing late Monday afternoon in Corona, police say.

A witness told TV station KCAL9 the attack may have been related to a domestic disturbance, and the suspect appeared to have been locked out of a home, according to a witness.

One person was detained at the scene in connection with the crime and police say there is no threat to the public.

“We’re not looking for anybody, and there is no threat to public safety at this time,” he said.

Just before 5 p.m. on April 15, police officers were called to investigate a report of a fight occurring in the 1300 block of Turquoise Drive, but while driving to the scene, a stabbing occurred, according to the Corona Police Department.

One male victim was located in the street and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. It's unclear how many others were injured but authorities say the injured victims were taken to the hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.

The identity of the person killed was not immediately released. Police do not know what sparked the fight and it's unclear if the person they took into custody is the suspected stabber.
