Man found shot in parking lot behind building in Dayton; police investigating

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 3 a.m. (Oct. 12): The 30-year-old victim found suffering from several gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a Dayton church Thursday is now in fair condition, according to a Miami Valley Hospital representative.

UPDATE @ 7:45 p.m.: The 30-year-old victim in the shooting reportedly is in serious but stable condition and police are looking for a suspect, Dayton Lt. Steven Bauer said.

The man was found, suffering from several gunshot wounds, in the parking lot of Greater Allen AME Church.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Police responded to reports of a shooting in a Dayton parking lot Thursday evening.

Regional dispatch confirmed with 2 NEWS that it happened just before 6 pm in a parking lot off the 1600 block of West Fifth Street.

The shooting started at a nearby apartment complex and when police arrived on scene, they found a 30-year-old male laying in a church parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Witnesses say they heard multiple shots fired in the area, and then saw two suspects get into a white vehicle, possibly a Chrysler or a Dodge.

Shots were also fired into the neighboring apartment and the Fire Department forced entry into the residence to make sure everyone inside was alright. The apartment was not occupied.

While linemen take care of getting the lights on, Ohio Task Force One is helping people trapped in flooded areas.

Students in the automotive pathway at the career center will perform oil, lube, and filter changes, as well as 21-point inspections as a way to donate to contribute to breast cancer awareness.
