EUGENE, Ore. — Two teenagers have been charged in the murder of a man on Pearl Street earlier this month.
Police arrested Jessica Simmons, 15, and Jonathan Kirkpatrick, 16, Wednesday. Simmons faces murder and robbery charges, and Kirkpatrick faces aggravated murder and robbery charges.
Ovid Neal, 56, of Eugene was found after 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 down on the sidewalk near a parking garage in the area of Pearl Street and East 10th Alley.

EUGENE, Ore. – Detectives arrested two teenagers on charges of murder and robbery in the death of a man killed in downtown Eugene last week.
The person was cared for by medics and it has since become a death investigation, Sgt. Tim Haywood said at the scene that night.
Police said October 11 that detectives had arrested a 15-year-old girl on charges of Murder and Robbery.
Both Murder and Aggravated Murder are Measure 11 crimes in Oregon that carry mandatory minimum sentences.
Authorities have not released the names of the suspects. In another recent Measure 11 case in Eugene involving a 17-year-old defendant, the suspects name became known only after prosecutors filed formal charges.
