Road conditions are deteriorating due to snow, rain mix

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that the ongoing snow and wind has caused some packed snow along I-94 and has created terrible driving conditions.

Sgt. Tom Herzig reports that they had several trucks unable to climb hills along I-94 just east of Valley City.

“We had trucks that couldn’t climb the hill,” Sgt. Herzig stated. “We were able to lay down some gravel to provide traction and get things moving again. Traffic was backed up about 2 miles for around 45 minutes, but traffic is finally back to a crawl on I-94.”

“The slush has turned into snow pack and is freezing along I-94. The passing lane is also treacherous so if you don’t need to be on the Interstate or traveling, please don’t be out on the roadway.”
