Man dead after being struck by train in downtown Fargo – KFGO News

Police were called shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday to an area near Sixth Avenue North and Roberts Street where they found a man with “significant trauma” who was dead. It happened on a stretch of tracks where there were no marked crossings.

Sgt. Troy Hannig tells KFGO News the BNSF freight train was east bound. A crew member on the train reported the accident. The victims name has not been released pending notification of relatives. The investigation into the death is on-going.

05/16/19 11:45 p.m. — Police have confirmed that the investigation is a pedestrian versus train fatality.

The call came in around 11 p.m. Thursday. Police say when crews arrived on the scene of 6th Avenue North and Broadway in downtown Fargo to find the body of a deceased person.

The scene is located behind the recycling center off of 4th Avenue North. They would not confirm the gender of the victim.

Investigators say they are working with BNSF and its employees during this investigation. No trains will be running while crews are on scene.

However, a train will be sitting across Broadway on the north side of downtown Fargo. Expect traffic delays if youre heading north on Broadway, police say.
