GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) — A Gainesville man is facing attempted murder charges after Gainesville Police say that he left another man with “life-threatening” injuries on Monday.
According to a GPD arrest report, 20-year-old Jared Parker went to another mans tent and asked him for money. When the man declined, Parker started hitting him with a stick and took his wallet.
When the man regained consciousness, he crawled towards NE 39th Avenue where he was found covered in blood all over his head and torso. He was sent to UF Health Shands with injuries classified as life-threatening.
When questioned by GPD, Parker said that the argument started over borrowing ten dollars and when the man refused to lend him more than five, Parker claimed that was “rushed” and was only defending himself.
Parker was arrested is charged with attempted murder and robbery with a deadly weapon. He is in the Alachua County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
