In the first season as the Ohio State head coach in 2012, Urban Meyer took a team that was not eligible for a bowl game due to NCAA sanctions to a12-0 season. During his tenure his record is 79-9, he is 6-0 against Michigan, has 4 bowl wins and a national championship.
The problems began during the Big Ten Conference media day in July when coaches discussed the upcoming season and what they expect. Things didn’t go well for Ohio State and Urban Meyer when he was asked about Zach Smith (former OSU assistant coach) and the allegation of domestic abuse.
Most people know all too well how that situation played out as it was a story that went on for some time.

The first 3 games of the season Meyer was suspended and in came Ryan Day (OSU Offensive Coordinator) to take over. The Buckeyes went 3-0 and defeated TCU which was ranked #15 at the time and things seemed to be rolling. Since Urban Meyer returned to the sidelines the football team hasn’t performed the way many Buckeye fans thought they would.
Fans have been disappointed with the way the team has been struggling on both sides of the ball. And there were reports about tension between athletic director Gene Smith and coach Meyer as a result of the investigation this summer.
COLUMBUS — Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer spoke with reporters following practice Wednesday evening. He answered questions about his football team and provided personnel updates. The Buckeyes travel to Maryland this weekend to take on a 5-5 Terrapin team that needs one more win for bowl eligibility. Here are the highlights of what Meyer had to say.
Now there is a new report stating that Meyer covered up a racial altercation between Smith and former Ohio State player Trevor Grimes. Once again it is from Brett McMurphy who reported multiple times on the previous situation involving the former receivers coach.

Current and former players have taken to twitter to defend the Buckeye head coach. Here is what former linebacker Joshua Perry tweeted:
Never in my life have I heard ANY @OhioStateFB coach use a racial slur, and there is NO CHANCE Coach Meyer would ever allow that. You’re trying to kill Urban’s career and I’m not here for it.

Coach Meyer has done a tremendous job as the Ohio State head coach and many fans will give him the benefit of the doubt. But with the way the school handled the last situation and the punishment he received, it’s difficult to say what the school will do about this allegation.

Was the previous Zach Smith situation Urban Meyer’s last chance and his time is up? Or will this allegation be proven false and nothing will come of it? Only time will tell.
High of 50 degrees, very little wind… Dwayne Haskins will be wanting to throw the ball all over the place in this one. But, I think that the OSU coaching staff still has a few things to prove in the run game, and will do their best to limit the passing game and maintain a balanced offense. Maryland has a competent secondary, but the Buckeye pass catchers will find gaps in their coverage and make a couple of big plays, including a deep ball TD. The OSU QB, and former Maryland commitment, throws for three touchdowns, breaking the school single-season record. In addition, he goes well beyond Joe Germaines passing yard record (3,330 yards) in this contest, breaking it in the first quarter of action.

For the second-straight week, the Buckeyes will be without Baron Browning as the linebacker has been ruled out of Saturdays game against Maryland due to injury.
Olave, who met with the media on Wednesday for the first time since his arrival on campus, acknowledged that he didnt come to Ohio State thinking hed be catching passes with the game on the line at Michigan State this year. Ohio State returned its entire six-man receiver rotation from 2017 – Campbell, McLaurin, Dixon, K.J. Hill, Binjimen Victor and Mack – which didnt leave much of an opening for a true freshman to come in and earn an immediate role in the offense.
Through nine games this season, Browning recorded 22 total tackles and 3.5 tackles for a loss, rotating in with Tuf Borland at the middle linebacker spot.
