MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WZTV) — One person died and three people have been displaced following a fatal house fire in Murfreesboro on Monday night.
The Murfreesboro Fire Department responded to a house fire just after 6 p.m. Monday near the 900 block of Kirkwood Avenue. Dispatchers told crews the caller believed someone was still inside the home.
When firefighters arrived to the scene, they discovered heavy smoke coming from the roof of the home. Firefighters searched the home, but a heavy fire load and extreme heat made the victim inaccessible, according to Murfreesboro Fire. Crews had to exit the home due to unsafe conditions.
The body of the deceased person was found once the fire was extinguished. The identity of the deceased has not been released yet. Three survivors of the house fire have been displaced and will be assisted by the American Red Cross.
