NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – Police are searching for the driver who struck and killed a woman in New Haven, early Thursday morning.

Police say that at around 12:51 a.m., officers responded to the area of Woolsey Street at James Street after a woman was found in the roadway.

According to police, the driver fled the scene. A red 2002-2006 Toyota Camry with front-end damage is possibly involved in the crash.

Officials closed off a portion of the roadway for the investigation. That road, however, has since been reopened.
