Shortly after 8 p.m., New Haven police officers responded to the intersection of Kensington Street and Edgewood Avenue for a report of a shooting. According to Capt. Anthony Duff there was a ShotSpotter alert for gunfire and “numerous 911 calls reporting gunfire and a person shot.”

When the officers got to the scene, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds near the intersection — which is about a block and a half from Yale New Haven Hospital.

One victim was shot in the ankle and the other was shot in the leg, Duff said. Both were taken to the hospital.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the New Haven Police Department Detective Bureau at 203-946-6304. Callers can remain anonymous.
