WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Colonial Athletic Association champion UNCW will continue its season by competing at the Norman Regional of the NCAA Division I Womens Golf Championship on May 6-8, at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla.
The Seahawks, who are making their ninth NCAA Regional appearance, return to the NCAA field for the first time since 2012 after winning their fifth CAA crown two weeks ago.
We are excited to be selected for the Norman Regional, UNCW Coach Cindy Ho said. We have some experience of playing on that golf course after Lori Beth Adams qualified for the regionals as an individual in 2013. If we want to do well, we are going to need all five of our players to be playing their best golf on the course.
UNCW, which earned the No. 16 seed in the regional, will be joined by Texas, Wake Forest, Florida, Arizona State, Oklahoma, TCU, Pepperdine, Purdue, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, NC State, Texas A&M, UTSA, Sam Houston State and Fairleigh Dickinson.
The 2019 NCAA Division I womens golf regional fields were revealed Wednesday night on Golf Channel.
The four regional championships will feature 72 teams and 24 individuals in competition May 6-8. Each regional is comprised of 18 teams and six individuals.
The four regional sites are: Tumble Creek Golf Club in Cle Elum, Wash.; Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla.; Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich.; and Saugahatchee Country Club in Opelika, Ala.
The NCAA Division I womens golf regional fields are set, as the 72 teams were officially split up across four different sites. Six individuals per site were also announced.
