PHOENIX — A woman was stabbed to death in an altercation that occurred after a crash that closed part of a West Valley freeway during rush hour on Friday.
Arizona Department of Public Safety Trooper Kameron Lee said witnesses saw a man stabbing a woman after a car crashed on the Loop 101 near the Thunderbird Road off-ramp.
Lee said authorities are investigating what led to the crash and the altercation between the woman, who was in her early 30s, and the man, who was in his early 20s.
Officers with the Peoria Police Department and bystanders detained the man while troopers responded to the scene.
The unidentified man and woman were taken to separate hospitals, where the woman died of her wounds. The man’s condition was not known.
