Cyclist in deadly Peoria crash identified

Update 7:14 p.m. : The 31-year-old has been identified by Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood as Tavari S. Armstrong of Peoria. Harwood said Armstrong suffered acute blunt force head and neck trauma, and likely died instantly. Toxicology is pending.

Peoria Police Public Information Officer Amy Dotson said police responded to Western and Millman around 11:45 p.m. on a report of an accident.

Police found the vehicle and its driver, as well as the bicyclist, at the scene. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the vehicle was headed south on Western when the bicyclist entered the roadway headed east.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. No citations are issued at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
