One woman dead, two men hurt in overnight shooting

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) — A 25-year-old Rockford woman is dead and two men are hurt after a shooting early Sunday morning.

Investigators say it happened a little before 2:30 a.m. in the area of Broadway and Eighth Street in Rockford. Police were called there for shots fired.

ROCKFORD — One woman was shot to death and two men were seriously injured by gunfire early Sunday near the intersection of Broadway and Eighth Street, Rockford police said.

One 29-year-old man was taken to the hospital for gunshot wounds. The woman and another 29-year-old man arrived at the hospital with similar injuries.

During that time, a 25-year-old woman and another 29-year-old man arrived at a local hospital suffering from injuries sustained during the same shooting.

According to Rockford Police, the shooting took place shortly before 2 a.m. in the area of Broadway and 8th Street. Officers were responding to a shots fired called when they found a 29-year-old man suffering from a gun shot wound.

During that time, two other people suffering from gunshot wounds from the same incident arrived at a local hospital. Another 29-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman.

The woman later died at the hospital due to her injuries and then two men are being treated for life-threatening injuries.  The names of the victims have not been released.
