LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Two people are in custody after a Louisville Metro Police cruiser crashed into the side of a building after an armed carjacking and police chase.

A MetroSafe supervisor says an armed carjacking was reported Monday shortly after 2 a.m. at Rubel Park in the Highlands neighborhood.

Louisville police car slams into Baxter Avenue business after chase

An LMPD cruiser that was involved in the chase crashed into the Volleyball Connection business, located at Baxter and Barret Avenues.

According to LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell, two male juvenile suspects jumped out of the stolen vehicle at the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Lexington Road. They tried to run away, but police were able to take them into custody.

The shooting was reported at a gas station in the 3100 block of Rockford Lane around 11:05 a.m. Monday, according to MetroSafe.
