ROCKFORD, Ill. – A 35-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed in her own driveway while unloading her car around 6 p.m. Saturday night, according to police.
The woman was outside her residence, in the 2200 block of 9th Avenue, in her driveway, when she was approached by a black male in his 30's, 5'8" tall, who pulled on her backpack purse, demanding that she give it to him.
She was transported to a hospital for treatment for minor injuries. Police call the incident an armed robbery, but did not describe the weapon used.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) — A 35-year-old Rockford woman is expected to be okay after an armed robbery in her own driveway Saturday night.
Police say the woman was unloading her car around 6 p.m. when a suspect approached the area and demanded her purse. The suspect reportedly grabbed the purse, pulled the suspect to the ground and ran away after the woman refused to give her purse away.
Officers responded to the robbery at the 2200 block of Ninth Avenue, but met the victim at a local hospital after suffering minor injuries. Police classified the crime as an armed robbery, but did not specify any weapon related to the crime.
