ROCKFORD (WREX) — Officers arrested a Rockford man, after a months-long investigation and information from concerned citizens about possible drug sales.
Rockford Police say detectives received tips about possible drug sales at a house in the 700 block of Gabriela Court. Detectives later identified the suspect as 35-year-old Ricky Williams.
With a warrant, police searched the home on Gabriela Court and found a semi-automatic rifle, gun and numerous pills, long with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Williams was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of weapons by a felon. He’s being lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.
During this investigation, Rockford Police also worked alongside Illinois State Police District 15 and 16 to conduct traffic stops on drivers involved in the sales and distribution of illegal drugs. During those stops, detectives say they seized more than $150,000 in cash from several vehicles.

For close to a month, detectives have been combing through leads involving possible drug sales happening near the 700 block of Gabriela Court.
On May 15th, a search warrant was issued for a home on the block and once there, investigators found a semi-automatic rifle, a handgun. numerous pills and cash.

During the investigation, Illinois State Police Districts 15 and 16 worked with detectives to hold traffic stops on drivers involved in the sales and distribution of illegal drugs. Through these measures, detectives seized over $150,000 from the searches.
