Police arrest 1 driver in road rage shooting in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Police are investigating a road rage shooting near the U.S. 65- U.S. 60 interchange in Springfield.

Police say the two drivers pulled off the exit ramp off Glenstone Avenue. The drivers then exchanged words. Police say that is when one driver showed a handgun. The victim sped off. That is when police say the shooter fired a shot into the side window of his truck.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A man is in custody in Springfield after a shot was fired into a vehicle in a reported road rage incident near U.S. 65 and U.S. 60 this morning.

Springfield Police spokeswoman Jasmine Bailey said a northbound driver on U.S. 65 called law enforcement to say another driver had shot into his vehicle after an altercation between the two.

The caller said he had pulled off the highway and stopped when he was approached by the second driver and a dispute ensued. When the caller tried to drive away, the second man shot into his auto, he told officials. He was not struck by the bullet, Bailey said.
