SPRINGFIELD — A tractor-trailer rollover crash in Interstate 91 has closed the southbound lanes of the highway in downtown Springfield, according to state police.

I-91 south closed in Springfield due to rollover crash
The truck was traveling on the Exit 1 off-ramp from I-291 to I-91 south when it lost its load over the barrier and its load of scrap metal spilled onto I-91, according to Dennis Leger, aide to Springfields fire commissioner. The crash was reported at about 1:15 p.m.
The crash scene is on an elevated portion of the highway over West Columbus Avenue near Liberty Street.
