Springfield firefighters called to second car fire in less than three hours

SPRINGFIELD – Two luxury cars caught fire within three hours Saturday night and early Sunday morning and one has been determined to be set.

Firefighters extinguished a fire in a 2007 Lexus IS 25 at 9:30 p.m., Saturday, at 35 Crystal Ave. There were no injuries in the fire, said Dennis Leger, executive aide to Fire Commissioner Bernard J. Calvi.

Then three hours later at 12:30 a.m., Sunday, firefighters responded to a fire in a 2008 BMW 328XI at 360 Cooley St., he said.

Anyone with information about the fires is asked to call investigators at 413-787-6370 or they can anonymously send a message through Text-a-Tip by addressing texts to Crimes or 274637, and the message should begin with the word Solve.
