Vehicle that may be linked with Idaho Amber Alert found in Arizona

JEROME, ID – ABC 15 reported that Audi A4, that may have been driven by the suspect who abducted an Idaho teen, was found abandoned a short distance south of US 60 near Deer Valley Road. Multiple law enforcement agencies continue to search the area for the suspect and victim.

An Amber Alert was issued for 17-year-old Sandra Rios-Chavez, of Idaho, who police say Miguel Rodriguez-Perez abducted her. Miguel Rodriguez-Perez's phone was pinged in Arizona Monday, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. 

A spokesperson for the department said authorities were made aware of the AMBER Alert and were provided with information about a possible route of travel through Surprise, ABC 15 reports. Officers reportedly located the suspect’s vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but a brief pursuit ensued.

Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) said Rodriguez-Perez's phone pinged in Kingman, Ariz., and has contacts in Mexico. They may be driving a 2015 black Audi A4 with Idaho plate 2J-83179.

The suspect’s vehicle, a black 2015 Audi A4 with Idaho license plate 2J-83179, was found abandoned a short distance later. Multiple law enforcement agencies searched the area for the suspect and victim.

Rodriguez-Perez is described as 6 feet tall, about 180 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes, and has tattoos on both arms.

Arizona Department of Public Safety said the teen was taken from her place of work in Idaho and was wearing a Wendy's uniform.

Tuesday morning, the Surprise Police Dept. posted that Sandra Rios-Chavez had been located and was waiting to be reunited with her family. Officers said Miguel Rodriguez-Perez had been taken into police custody.

Monday night, police in Surprise, Arizona found the vehicle the two were believed to be traveling in. Officers tried to pull it over, but said the car drove off. It was later found abandoned.
