UPDATE: Police name victim in suspicious death in Proctor

PROCTOR, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont State Police are investigating the suspicious death of Melanie Rooney, 31, that was reported early Saturday, on Market Street in Proctor.

An autopsy is planned for Sunday, at the Chief Medical Examiners Office in Burlington to confirm the victims identity and determine the cause and manner of death.

Police ask that anyone with information that could be relevant to the investigation call the Rutland Barracks at 802-773-9101.

Wilmington Police asking for help finding a car possibly linked to death

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Wilmington Police Department released a description of a car that could be connected to a death at an apartment Saturday morning.

Police public information officer Linda Thompson announced officers found the black 2002 Toyota Avalon with tag FJW7303 around 2:20 p.m. Saturday.

The release from Wilmington police notes officers were called about a suspicious death around 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of North 30th Street. No information has been shared about who the victim was or the manner of their death.
