Obama, 54, a passionate campaigner for girls education, said: We shouldnt be sending messages to girls that there are things they cant do — because theres nothing that a girl cant do.

When Michelle Obamas father gave her older brother, Craig, a pair of boxing gloves, he realised his daughter would also want a pair.

From our very first conversations, he showed me that he wasnt afraid to express his fears and doubts, or that he might not have all the answers, Michelle told the magazine.

Michelle Obama Talks Life After The White House With Jimmy Kimmel

It was all on display when we dated: he was consistent, he was honest, he was respectful, and he was secure in himself and secure in us. He hasnt been perfect, but those things have never wavered.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live Thursday night to promote her new memoir Becoming, the former First Lady also dived into topics normally taboo when she was in the White House and gracefully aimed a few barbs at the Trump Administration.

The couple has been together for 26 years, so it comes as no surprise that Michelle would have good advice on how to pick a partner for life.

She told Kimmel, “I would do briefing requests for them. They had to get my permission. I would find, in my briefing room, it would be like, Can Bo and Sunny stop by this press event? There would be a time and I had to approve of it.”

Michelle Obamas Becoming Complicates Her Own Narrative

The cover shoot is the first time Michelle as publicly showed off her natural curls, and the decision could be due to her revealing intimate details about herself in her first book.
